abstract: a contract holds the creator fee of one token and spends nothing until it is called after a longer silence than it has ever been left in before; the silence between two calls is measured in blocks and called the gap, gaps under a fixed floor of 4,096 blocks are refused outright, a gap longer than the standing record opens a new band in the section and closes the old one, and at that moment the contract spends balance × (g − R) / g of everything it holds buying the token and sends the purchase to the dead address, so that each doubling of the record destroys half of whatever accrued while nobody was watching, and what is retained falls as 2⁻ᴰ against depth (plate b).

fees arrive when they arrive. the contract holds them and does nothing with them. it has no schedule, no vesting, no owner discretion. the only condition under which it acts is a call that follows a longer silence than any silence before it, and that condition is checked against a single stored number.

below 4,096 blocks the contract refuses to look at all. the floor is fixed at deploy and cannot move. it exists so ordinary traffic never touches the mechanism and so the first band has a defined upper edge; the ladder of rungs is laid out from it as f · 2ⁿ (plate d).
the seal.
when a gap exceeds the record, the contract spends balance × (g − R) / g of its reserve buying the token on the open market and burns what it bought. break the record by a doubling and half the reserve is destroyed. the fraction is fixed; the amount is not, and depends only on what accrued during the silence (plate c).
indifference.
nothing here rewards attention. the machine pays for having been ignored, and every payment makes the next one twice as hard to earn. it does not know it is being read.
